Silk was actually born Silk was born in Fredericton (New Brunswick), Canada. Silk is her father's daughter Peter Silk, a professor, and Ilkay Silk, a playwright and director, who also became famous for her acting. Anna remembers some of her first memories when she was a kid, such as being a spectator at play rehearsals. Silk was a prominent character in numerous commercials when she was an infant. Silk graduated from St. Thomas University with an Associate of Arts degree in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas produced at least two early productions, Seven Menus, and The Kitchen. Silk started her career in acting after moving to Toronto Canada in November of 1999. After that, she relocated to Los Angeles for the remainder of that decade. Seth Cooperman met Silk at an Actors Workshop in Los Angeles in 2007. In 2009 they were legally married in December of 2009. In Fredericton on 10 April 2011, following her decision to convert to Judaism the couple renewed their vows at a Jewish marriage ceremony.
